Wooden Dishbrush with Replaceable Head
Beechwood dishbrush with replaceable plant fibre head
This practical dishbrush comes with a replaceable brush head. It is created from sustainable and vegan natural materials, featuring soft Tampico bristles obtained from the leaf ribs of two Agave species. No plastic dishbrush handles around forever or plastic bristles left floating in the oceans for millennia.
Replacement heads are available here.
Tampico fibre or Mexican fibre is the yellow leaf fibre of the agave cactus, which grows only in the highlands of northern Mexico, giving Mexico a natural monopoly on the material. Following final dressing the fibre has a length of 300–500 mm and is traded as Tampico fibre, named after the port of Tampico. Nature has created a very robust fibre, resistant to acid and alkaline solutions and to heat. Good elasticity and optimum water absorption make the fibre suitable for many applications, including household brushes and robust massage and nail brushes.

At the end of its life this brush can be recycled. The bristles can be removed with pliers/scissors and composted, and the beechwood can either be upcycled, cut up for use as kindling or taken to a recycling centre where it will be made into woodchips/mulch. Any stainless steel parts can be removed with pliers and put with waste food cans for household recycling.

To change the head, pull on the handle and hold the head. The U-shaped clip will slide out. Replace the head by sliding back into the U-shaped clip with a little force and you will feel it clip/lock into place.
