A natural, compostable alternative to laundry detergent.
The active substance saponin contained in the shells of soapnuts (dried fruits) has excellent cleaning power and antibacterial effect. When in contact with warm water, a mild detergent base is formed.
Soapnuts are suitable for all brightly colored and white fabrics, including silk and wool. Soapnuts clean like conventional detergents but without all the chemicals, dirt is effectively and gently removed. Coloured textiles stay fresher for longer because saponin is dye-friendly.
Soapnuts are odourless - completely hypoallergenic and scent-free. They are also a natural softener, so no artificial fabric conditioner is needed. To add a fragrance to your washing you can add a few drops of essential oils onto the wash bag before it goes into the washing machine with your laundry.
Soapnuts are free of additives, which makes suitable for allergy sufferers and people with sensitive skin, including babies.
Using soapnut shells to do your laundry is not only ecologically sound but also very efficient and inexpensive. When washing at low temperatures, the same soapnuts can be used 2-3 times.
Simply discard of the soapnuts in your organic waste - they are 100% biodegradable.
Easy to use:
Use 5-7 half shells (= approx 10 g) per washing cycle. They can be carefully crushed or used as is.
Put them in the cotton wash bag (included) and tie securely. (Optional: place the wash bag into a jar with warm water for 3 minutes - this helps to release the soap)
