Description

Rewild your home & support our pollinators with these easy to grow wildflower seed balls

The last 50 years has been witness to huge declines in pollinators and other garden wildlife, but together we can really really do something to reverse this.

97% of natural bee and butterfly habitat has been lost in the UK since WW2. 97%. Ninety Seven Percent. It's frightening and critical.

With your help, we can start to restore the lost wildflower habitat and make an important contribution to the biodiversity of Great Britain 🌻

Created by conservation scientists and 100% British made, Seedball is a unique innovation to help more people grow bee and butterfly-friendly wildflowers. They are manufactured in-house using a mixture of UK-native seeds, clay, peat-free compost and chilli powder to create a protective casing against seed predators (e.g. birds and ants).

They’re incredibly easy to use - scatter (no digging!) on top of soil, and with rain and warm sun, the seeds will grow!

This grab bag contains a gorgeous mix of colourful native wildflower annuals – Poppy, Chamomile, Cornflower, Corn marigold, and Night-flowering catchfly. All will flower in their first Spring/Summer season and are ideal for attracting pollinators and other garden wildlife.

Each bag of Annuals Mix contains 100 seed balls, enough to cover 5 metre square in a garden bed or 15-25 medium sized pots (leave at least 10cm between each ball).

Best scattered in Spring or Autumn.

Common Poppy (Papaver rhoeas): The remembrance poppy is the common field poppy, one of the first wildflowers to colonise disturbed ground or fallow cornfields. It became identified with the battle zones of the First World War, or Flanders Fields, which were originally corn fields.
Height: 30-60cm.
Flowers: May to July

Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus): Cornflowers are edible. They have a cucumber-like taste. Flowers can be consumed in the form of salad and tea, or used as a garnish.
Height: 90cm
Flowers: June to August

Corn Chamomile (Athemis autriaca): A cheerful cornfield flower, this lovely annual produces large, daisy-like flowers throughout summer and autumn and is highly attractive to pollinators.
Flowers: May to August
Height: up to 50cm

Corn Marigold (Glebionis Segetum): A medium height annual plant, its flowers are golden-yellow discs with prominent ray florets.
Height: 51-60cm
Scatter: late summer to mid April, but the best results are usually obtained in early spring
Flowers: June to October

Night Flowering Catchfly (Silene noctiflora): Similar in appearance to white campion but covered with sticky hairs and more deeply notched petals. So pretty!
Flowers: July-September
Height - 75-80cm

Emily & Ana, the creators of Seedball, are on a mission to help increase the abundance of British wildflowers and wildlife that depend upon them. They believe that if we can all better use whatever space we have available to us (whether a back garden, balcony, window box, little patio etc) we can together have a hugely beneficial impact on our local ecosystems.

They want Seedball to inspire a wildlife gardening revolution while providing a very handy way of going about it! Conservation is in the heart and soul of Seedball and one day we dream to fund their own Seedball wildflower reserves.
