Rewild your home & support our pollinators with these easy to grow wildflower seed balls

The last 50 years has been witness to huge declines in pollinators and other garden wildlife, but together we can really really do something to reverse this.

97% of natural bee and butterfly habitat has been lost in the UK since WW2. 97%. Ninety Seven Percent. It's frightening and critical.

With your help, we can start to restore the lost wildflower habitat and make an important contribution to the biodiversity of Great Britain 🌻

Created by conservation scientists and 100% British made, Seedball is a unique innovation to help more people grow bee and butterfly-friendly wildflowers. They are manufactured in-house using a mixture of UK-native seeds, clay, peat-free compost and chilli powder to create a protective casing against seed predators (e.g. birds and ants).

They’re incredibly easy to use - scatter (no digging!) on top of soil, and with rain and warm sun, the seeds will grow!

A beautiful mix of native wildflowers that is perfect for pollinators. Garden Meadow is a colourful combination of hardy annuals and perennials that will do well in most gardens, including those in more polluted areas (this mix would also be ideal for road verges). Seeds are from a mixture of Common toadflax, Cornflower, Cowslip, Meadow cranesbill, Musk mallow, Oxeye daisy and Red campion, plus a sprinkling of pollinator-friendly annuals Chamomile, Cornflower, Corn marigold, and Night-flowering catchfly.

Each bag of Garden Meadow Mix contains 100 seed balls, enough to cover 5 metre square in a garden bed or 15-25 medium sized pots (leave at least 10cm between each ball).

Best scattered in Spring or Autumn.

Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus): Annual. Cornflowers are edible. They have a cucumber-like taste. Flowers can be consumed in the form of salad and tea, or used as a garnish.
Height: 90cm
Flowers: June to August

Common Toadflax (Linaria vulgaris): Perennial. There is an old belief that when you walk around the flower three times it will remove any spells that have been cast on you!
Height: 10-150cm
Flowers: June to October

Cowslip (Primula veris): Perennial. The origin of the name cowslip is unclear, but it may derive from the fact that it grows in meadows well manured by cow dung or cow slips.
Height: 20-30cm
Scatter: Late summer or autumn
Flowers: April and May

Musk Mallow (Malva moschata): A tall perennial with large rose pink petals. The plant is cultivated for its seeds, which are used in perfumes. The plant also yields a fibre that can be used for clarifying sugar.
Height: 40-70cm
Flowers: June to August

Meadow Cranesbill (Geranium pratense): Perennial. The large purple flowers of Meadow cranesbill turn into pointed, bill-like seed pods that give the plant its common name.
Height: 30-70cm
Flowers: June to September

Oxeye Daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare): Perennial. In Austria and Germany oxeye daisies were hung inside the house as it was believed they would repel lightning.
Height: 30-90cm
Flowers: May to September

Red Campion (Silene dioica): A perennial with rose pink petals. Silenus the merry god of the woodlands in Greek mythology, gave his name to Silene dioica. The second part of its scientific name, dioica, means 'two houses', and refers to the fact that each Red Campion plant has flowers of one sex only, so that two plants are needed to make seeds.
Height: 20-60cm
Flowers: March to November

Emily & Ana, the creators of Seedball, are on a mission to help increase the abundance of British wildflowers and wildlife that depend upon them. They believe that if we can all better use whatever space we have available to us (whether a back garden, balcony, window box, little patio etc) we can together have a hugely beneficial impact on our local ecosystems.

They want Seedball to inspire a wildlife gardening revolution while providing a very handy way of going about it! Conservation is in the heart and soul of Seedball and one day we dream to fund their own Seedball wildflower reserves.
