- To encourage people to recycle they offer a 10% discount for bringing back used candle glasses and tins. They are washed and refilled.
- Saving paper, saving waste: they don’t print receipts in their shops and will email them instead, if required.
- Any paper they do use, they recycle it by shredding it all and then making the shredded paper into burning brickettes which can be used to heat homes.
- They only use LED bulbs in their stores so that they use as little energy as possible whilst keeping the lights on. They source electricity from cleaner energy, with over 91% of coming from renewable sources.
In September 2013 Skye Candles launched a new candle in collaboration with the Environmental Justice Foundation to provide money for their 'No Place Like Home' campaign. They heard about the Woodland Trust’s efforts to buy and restore the Loch Arkaig forest and felt this was the perfect way to try to make a difference to the planet. With every sale of their Scots Pine candle, they donate £1 to helping save the Loch Arkaig pine forest.
